Internet Safety
As you probably already know, Internet Safety is a growing concern. As the Internet evolves, new threats and concerns emerge every day. One has to be smart and informed these days. At Aubrey Elementary, we want our students to benefit from all of the wonderful resources that the Internet can provide, but do so in a smart and educated way. Recently I have discovered a website that can help children make smart choices when surfing the web. An organization called CHILDREN's WAY has developed a website JUST for KIDS that helps children become informed and make smart choices when using the Internet. The website, called WOOGI WORLD, has fun activities for children that focus on the importance of LIVING A BALANCED LIFE, MAKING TIME FOR FAMILY and COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. This a free program intended for home use. A parent must create an account for their child/children and a school access code is required. I am sending home information regarding the program in our student's Blue Folders on Monday November 11th.
If this is something that your family might be interested in, check it out. We will be discussing this in class and watching a DVD that focuses on the basics of Internet Safety and the importance of making wise and balanced decisions when using the World Wide Web. So, if your kiddo comes home talking about making a WOOGI, this is what they are referring to.
