What is UIL?The University Interscholastic League was created by The University ofTexas at Austin to provide leadership and guidance to public schooldebate and athletic teachers. Since 1909 the UIL has grown into the largest organization of its kind in the world.Does the Speech & Debate squad compete only in UIL events?No, the squad competes in UIL events (University Interscholastic League), NSDA events (National Speech and Debate Association), and TFA events (Texas Forensics Association).Who is allowed to join?Everybody! Everybody and anybody is allowed to join who is ingood standing with Aubrey High School, is passing, and has the determination, however it is recommended that the prerequisitecommunications applications (speech) is taken prior to takingthe UIL class or joining the speech and debate squad.What does it take?
