In Case of an Emergency: Student/Family Reunification Plan

  • AMS, BES, MES and EBLC

    Student/Family Reunification Plan:

Should an emergency situation arise within the Aubrey ISD while school is in session, it is

important that you know that the district and its individual campuses have made preparations to deal with these incidents.

During such an event, your child/children will be cared for at his/her campus. Your cooperation is essential in an emergency. One of our greatest challenges during an emergency is how to manage traffic flow and incoming phone calls from concerned parents and others. Traffic jams and jammed phone lines prevent emergency responders (police, fire, and medical personnel) from providing emergency services in a timely manner.

We will send out and post updates (Mass Notification, social media, website) to keep you informed. It is extremely important that we keep phone lines and roads clear in these situations.

Aubrey High School Auxiliary Gym has been selected as our Parent Information Center for your child’s campus.  In the event of an emergency involving an AISD campus, please do not come to the school but go directly to the Parent Information Center where AISD administrators will provide you with information on how to reconnect with your child.

In the event of a Lockdown emergency at your child’s campus, only authorized emergency personnel are permitted to enter or exit the school. Additionally, in the event that your child’s campus has been ordered to evacuate, your child may have been relocated to an undisclosed alternate safe location. Again, we would request that you go directly to Parent Information Center assigned for your campus for information.

Students will only be released to parents and persons identified on the School District Emergency Card. Please keep this information accurate and updated and discuss these matters with your child. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continually seek to assure the safety and security of all students, employees, and visitors of the Aubrey Independent School District.

    Emergency Communications

How will Parents be notified if an incident/emergency occurs at school?

Our first priority is to ensure that all students are safe, accounted for, and under adult supervision.  As soon as it is possible to do so, AISD public relations will communicate information to parents and the community.  The school district has a variety of media available to parents which will be updated, as needed, with the most complete and accurate information available.

    • Mass Notification System
    • Facebook/Twitter
    • AISD website aubreyisd.net

Many of these communication sources rely on accurate parent contact information. Please be sure your school has information that is up to date.

Please do not call the school.  It is essential to keep phone lines open so school officials can make outgoing emergency calls and the staff is busy taking care of your child. As with any good strategy, it is most effective when everyone knows the plan.

Schools practice a variety of safety drills throughout the year so that students and staff members will know how to respond in the event of a real emergency.
