• The English language is nobody's special property.

It is the property of the imagination:

it is the property of the language itself.

Hello! I'm Mrs. Teacher, and I'll be your AP Language and Composition and English IV teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.

I was born in Dallas, Texas, on January 1, 1976, and soon after we moved to Greenville, TX, where my family's roots run deep. I graduated Greenville High School in 1994 and went to the University of North Texas where I graduated in 1998 with a B.A. in English and secondary education. I also earned my Texas professional teaching credential for English 6-12. After college, I taught eighth grade English in Lake Dallas at Lake Dallas Middle School for two years where I was the yearbook adviser and directed the UIL One Act Play. Then I moved to Los Angeles, California, where I taught seventh and eighth grade English and drama at David Starr Jordan Middle School in Burbank, California, from 2000-2007. I had a wonderful experience in L.A., but Texas is where I'm meant to be! I moved back home and eventually found my way back to Denton. Then one fortunate day, Aubrey High School called looking for an English III teacher.

I love American literature, and junior year was my favorite and most important year of high school- I felt very lucky to have received that call.  I'm excited to start my tenth year at Aubrey and begin a new journey of learning with you!
