    Parent/Guardian, Welcome to Mr. Yarbrough’s class


    Dear Parent/Guardian,

    I am so excited to have your child in class this year. This is my 18th year at Aubrey High School and I have a lot of plans to have the best year yet for your student. Each student will be given a class Syllabus (also posted on my teacher page) to take home and share with you. I would ask that you read and sign the syllabus and send back to school with any questions that you may have. My Class Schedule is also posted on my web page and I will be happy to help you with any questions.

    Course Description: Ag Equipment and Design/Ag Structures will provide an introduction to welding technology with an emphasis on basic welding laboratory principles and operating procedures. Students will be introduced to the three basic welding processes. Topics include: industrial safety and health practices, hand tool and power machine use, measurement, laboratory operating procedures, welding power sources, welding career potentials, and introduction to welding codes and standards. Introduction to Welding will provide students with the knowledge, skills, and technologies required for employment in welding industries. Students will develop knowledge and skills related to welding and apply them to personal career development. This course supports integration of academic and technical knowledge and skills. Students will reinforce, apply, and transfer knowledge and skills to a variety of settings and problems. Knowledge about career opportunities, requirements, and expectations and the development of workplace skills will prepare students for future success.

    Course Description: Agricultural Mechanics and Metal Technologies is designed to develop an understanding of agricultural mechanics as it relates to safety and skills in tool operation, electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, fencing, concrete, and metal working techniques. To prepare for careers in agricultural power, structural, and technical systems, students must attain academic skills and knowledge; acquire technical knowledge and skills related to power, structural, and technical agricultural systems and the industry; and develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, entry requirements, industry certifications, and industry expectations.

    Course Description:

    Small Animal Manangement is a course designed to introduce students to the study of companion animals and companion animal management. The course includes a study of animal nutritional requirements, diseases and grooming procedures, record keeping practices and career leadership opportunities. Some animals may include but not limited to dogs, cats, rabbits , exotic pets and other small farm animals.

    Welcome to the Agriculture Department and Aubrey FFA. I would like to tell you a little about myself. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University Commerce. I also have an Associate of Applied Science Degree from North Central Texas College along with a Certificate in Agriculture Management. I am a certified Welder myself as well as a Certified Welding Examiner which means I am able to certify my students in welding and I look forward to doing that his year for the students enrolled in my shop classes. 2020/2021 will be my 18th year at Aubrey High School and I am very excited about all of the Agriculture class and FFA Activities that we have planned for  this year.
    School Supplies: You will need a 3 subject spiral  notebook for all Ag Science classes. In addition, If you are in one of my shop classes, you will also need a pair of Z87 OSHA approved safety glasses. I will have some available for $3 or you may purchase your own. They should be clear, yellow or blue lenses. (no dark glasses please). Everyone is required to wear safety glasses at all times in the shop, no exceptions.
