- Meet Mrs. Baker
-
My name is Nancy Baker. This is my 29th year as a school Speech Therapist (or Speech-Language Pathologist), and my 26th year here at Aubrey ISD. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Pathology from Abilene Christian University, and a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology from the University of North Texas.
I have been married for 30 years to my best friend. We have 2 grown children, and a dog named Levi.
I grew up in Post, Texas, near Lubbock. It's a town about the size of Aubrey, so I feel at home being a part of the small town atmosphere.
In my free time, I like to read, watch movies, spend time with family, and travel when I get a chance.
What is Speech Therapy?
Speech Therapy is a Special Education program that helps children with communication disorders, including articulation difficulties, language delays and fluency disorders (stuttering). In order to receive Speech Therapy through the public school, a child must be referred for Special Education and go through a testing process. If the testing identifies a severe communication disorder, the child can qualify to receive services.
