Meet Principal Abrams
A familiar face to the Aubrey ISD community will greet students when Fuller Elementary opens its doors for the first time in August of 2020. Kari Abrams, who served as the Brockett Elementary School principal, will be the first principal at Fuller Elementary.
The Aubrey ISD school board approved the hiring of Mrs. Abrams at a special board meeting in June of 2019. Mrs. Abrams spent the 2019-20 school year preparing for the new school to open while also serving as the administrator for the Early Bird Learning Center, which houses the district’s daycare and Pre-kindergarten program. Mrs. Abrams has been involved in all the Fuller construction meetings, the ordering of all furniture and materials for the new school, hiring of staff and will oversee the move into Fuller starting in June.
“It is a great honor to serve as the first leader of Jackie Fuller Elementary and to establish the rich traditions of excellence in AISD’s newest communities,” Mrs. Abrams said. “It is my personal and professional goal, together with the future staff, families, and students of Fuller Elementary to uphold the family values of Aubrey ISD and create a cultural foundation that will inspire and nurture this new community for many years to come.”
Mrs. Abrams worked at Brockett for four years, first as the Assistant Principal and then as a Principal for two years. During her time at Brockett, she upheld and created a culture of character that culminated with Brockett being named a National School of Character. She also implemented a Principal’s Book of the Month, a campus leadership team to develop teacher leaders and helped design BIG Friday to encourage student’s interests, gifts and talent.
Mrs. Abrams is opening Fuller Elementary at the beginning of her 20th year in education. She has taught Kindergarten, First grade, third grade, and was an instructional coach. In these roles she served in Hutto ISD, Forney ISD, and Northwest ISD before joining the Chaparral Family.
Mrs. Abrams earned her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Stephen F. Austin, and her master’s degree in educational leadership from SFA.
Mrs. Abrams is married to husband, Mark.They have three precious miniature schnauzers: Jackson, Heidi, and Bailey. She enjoys reading, shopping, working out, being creative and tending to her garden.
