Hello!

Hi! My name is Sarah Braggs. I am so excited to be teaching first grade at Monaco this year! This is my second year teaching and my first year to teach in Aubrey ISD. I’m a longtime resident of the area and have had my own kids at Monaco since 2012, so this is where I’ve always wanted to be! Before teaching, I ran an in-home daycare for 13.5 years. I'm also a self-trained cake artist and had a cottage bakery for 7 years that I ran concurrently with my daycare. I absolutely love to create and can make almost anything I put my mind to, but a blank cake or sugar cookie is one of my most favorite canvases.
I closed my bakery in 2017 when I started teaching ESL online to kids in China, and it was so nice for my hobby to become a hobby once again instead of a business endeavor. I closed my daycare in 2019 when I began a new chapter as a public school teacher.
I graduated with honors from Southern Methodist University, where I earned a B.A. in Psychology with a heavy emphasis on child psychology and child development. I completed my alternative teaching certification work through Texas Teachers of Tomorrow.
My husband, Timothy, is an engineer. We have six kids (five girls and one boy) who range in age from 6 to 15. We also have one tiny, masterful escape artist dog named Ranger who thinks he's the biggest dog in the neighborhood.
I love all things bright and colorful and firmly believe that a cheerful classroom environment leads to better learning. My current teacher wish list consists of books for our classroom library and flair pens.
