Aubrey ISD Board of Trustees Approve Compensation Plan for 2019-20

The Aubrey ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2019-20 compensation plan at their regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, June 26. The compensation plan will provide a significant pay increase for all teachers and staff. The pay increase and benefits will exceed all requirements of new legislation as part of House Bill 3.

“Aubrey ISD is on a mission to make a positive difference in the lives of students and families,” Aubrey ISD Aubrey ISD circle logo Superintendent Dr. Belding said. “Our teachers and staff provide an exceptional educational experience to our students and deserve the strongest compensation possible. This compensation plan, facilitated by funding from House Bill 3, assists the district in providing competitive compensation and express appreciation to a staff that is committed to providing a world-class educational experience for our students. I am excited that our Board of Trustees approved a strong raise for our teachers and staff for the upcoming school year.”

Over the past two years, Aubrey ISD has given raises to  teachers in the amount of $1,300 in 2017-18 and $1,250 in 2018-19. The district was able to provide a 2.6% and 2.5% raise for all employees in those years, respectively.

For 2019-20, teachers, librarians, counselors, and nurses will receive a tiered level of salary increase.

  • Step 0:  $2,000 increase to $47,500
  • Steps 1-5:  Minimum of 4.74% raise that is a salary increase of $2,250
  • Steps 6-23:  Minimum of 5% raise that is a salary increase of $3,000
  • Steps 24-28:  Minimum of 5% raise that is a salary increase of $3,200
  • Steps 29-31:  Minimum of 5% raise that is a salary increase of $3,300
  • Auxiliary Staff: 5% to the midpoint of the paygrade with a minimum of $1,200.
  • Administrative personnel will receive 3.5% raise to the midpoint of that position’s pay grade.

The compensation plan commits an additional $655,476 for raises and increased benefits for teachers, counselors, nurses, librarians, and auxiliary staff.  House Bill 3 required the district to allocate approximately $542,637 to compensation increases for these employees. The approved compensation plan represents an expenditure of $112,839 more in compensation increases than House Bill 3 required.

House Bill 3 is the sweeping school finance legislation passed by the 86th Texas Legislature.  There are many significant changes how schools in Texas will be funded beginning with the 2019-20 school year.  Aubrey ISD administrators have worked diligently to implement the components of the new law and measure the impact on the revenue and expenditures.  The district’s focus has been to create the best compensation increases for all employees and provide additional resources to ensure our students are getting a world class educational experience.
