Nathan Smith was named an assistant principal at Fuller Elementary School. The Aubrey ISD Board of Trustees approved Mr. Smith’s position at the June board meeting.
Mr. Smith will join principal Kari Abrams in the Fuller administration. Fuller Elementary School opened its doors for the first time in August of 2020. The 2021-22 school year will be the second full year for Aubrey ISD’s third elementary school.
“Fuller Elementary is honored to welcome Nathan Smith into the Chaparral Family as our first assistant principal,” Mrs. Abrams said. “Mr. Smith's background and experiences in instructional coaching, technology and relationship building will bring significant skills to assist us in reaching our mission and vision. Mr. Smith has a heart for kids that stood out in the intensive interview process, and I look forward to leading alongside him as we serve our Fuller families, students and staff.”
Mr. Smith worked at Prosper ISD for the last 11 years. He started as a 4th grade teacher and served as an instructional technology coach for the last four years.
He was named Prosper ISD Teacher of the Year and Baker Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2016.
“I look forward to learning from the leaders and educators in Aubrey ISD, and bringing my knowledge and experiences with me to continue the excellence in teaching and learning already happening at Fuller Elementary,” Mr. Smith said. “I can’t wait to work closely with Mrs. Abrams and the Fuller family to make the 2021-22 school year the very best for our students and staff.”
Mr. Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Oklahoma, received his master’s degree from Texas-Arlington and is working on his doctorate in education administration from Texas A&M Commerce.
