Three Aubrey ISD Board Members Sworn In at May Meeting
Three school board members took the oath of office and goodbyes were said to one board member at Aubrey ISD’s May board meeting.
Current board members Jim Milacek and Trey Duncan began new terms, and Benton Bland was sworn in for the first time as a board member. School board vice president Annette Crooks stepped down after eight years of service.
“I am excited for Mr. Milacek and Mr. Duncan to continue and for Mr. Bland to serve on the Aubrey ISD Board of Trustees,” Aubrey ISD Superintendent Dr. David Belding said. “Each of the three have a true heart for serving our children and staff. We appreciate Mrs. Crook’s service on our Board during a time of strong growth.”
The Aubrey ISD community bid farewell to Mrs. Crooks who served as school board vice president and secretary in her eight years of service as a school board member. She served on the 2017 Aubrey ISD Strategic Planning Committee and Facility Planning Committee as well as the Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach Committee. Mrs. Crooks was involved with all the construction projects from the 2017 bond project and the successful passing of the 2022 bond.
Place 2 will now be filled by Benton Bland, who ran unopposed in a special election. Mr. Bland is a local entrepreneur, and he and his wife have three children that attend Aubrey ISD schools.
““As a graduate of Aubrey ISD, along with my wife, we believe in Aubrey’s mission to educate future world changers,” Mr. Bland said. “With three children of our own in the District, I felt very compelled to serve on the school board in order to support our faculty and staff with this mission.”
Mr. Milacek begins his seventh term at Place 5. He ran unopposed in the May election. Mr. Duncan starts his third term at Place 4. He also ran unopposed in the May election.
