Welcome Back Letter from Dr. Belding

January 4, 2021

Dear Aubrey ISD families,

I hope everyone had a great holiday. We are excited that the spring semester starts for our students tomorrow. Our staff is working today to prepare for a successful semester.

I wanted to give you a couple updates regarding the start to this semester and ask for your help. We know that after Thanksgiving there was a definite increase in COVID-19 cases in our county, state and throughout the nation. Our cases increased in the district as well, but they remained manageable for us because we have worked together so effectively.

I want us to continue the outstanding work as we start back to school. Please review our COVID-19 protocols, which are on the website. The information contained in these documents is updated based on the newest guidelines from TEA and CDC. It is vital that we all ensure implementation of the plan. The protocols include our UIL activities processes.  We are committed to protecting the seasons and activities for our students and need everyone’s help in this regard.

Please help us start strong by following the protocols and working together to limit exposure to the virus as best we can. In cooperation,  we can work to keep our campuses open for face-to-face learning and serve our distance-learning students without interruption. Working together, we can continue to experience great success. I appreciate everyone’s support and cooperation.

  •  Remember, if your child(ren) experiences COVID-19 symptoms, please contact your campus. Please do not send them to school.

The TEA, in cooperation with the state health department, established a voluntary  antigen COVID-19 Testing Program for schools. We opted to participate as a testing center for our students and staff. We are able to test our enrolled students and staff and receive results in 15 minutes. We started this program just before Thanksgiving and it has shown to be beneficial. The District has implemented the new CDC guidelines regarding the 7-day quarantine and the 10-day quarantine. The testing program has helped us bring people back to campus in a safe manner. Some quick points regarding the antigen testing program:

  • Students and staff are not required to test with us. Families can go to another provider for their students to be tested and then provide Aubrey ISD with the documentation of the results.
  • Any student that is tested has to have parent approval and staff testing is voluntary.
  •  If someone in your household is “test confirmed” with COVID-19, please notify your child’s campus and keep your child(ren) home until notified otherwise.

We are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience. It will take us all to help our students and staff succeed this semester. We appreciate your help and cooperation. If you have a question, please reach out to us.
