Congratulations to Teacher of the Year (TOTY) recipients across all seven Aubrey ISD campuses!
A TOTY prize patrol consisting of Aubrey ISD Superintendent Dr. Shannon Saylor and district administrators visited each campus to deliver the news. There was excitement, cheers and a few tears in celebration of our 2025-2026 honorees.
This is what they each had to say:
Aubrey High School - Susan Francis, Science Teacher
“Whew…a big honor! Coming from small towns to a very large high school in my game, it’s quite an honor because I’ve got some tough competition in this school to have this kind of honor and it’s great to be teaching with such a great faculty and very knowledgeable staff and I appreciate their support and that’s why it’s easy to support them.”
McNabb Middle School - Dustin Wilson, Physical Education Teacher / Coach
“The role that I’m in, being a coordinator and not a core teacher, I never in a million years would have thought…what an honor. This is truly special.”
Owens Middle School - Charles Entsminger, Math Teacher
“I am still a pretty new teacher so, I feel like I appreciate it, but there’s a little bit of imposter syndrome but I’m doing the best I can and it’s nice to be recognized for it.”
Brockett Elementary School - Cheryl Reid, Third Grade Teacher
“I love this school. I’ve taught here for 25 years and it just means a lot to me. It’s so sweet that someone noticed all the hard work that we do.”
Fuller Elementary School - Elaine Nolting, Fifth Grade Teacher
“I am totally shocked and surprised. It is not something that I expected in any way, shape or form. I just come in here every day to do the best that I can. This is just amazing. What an honor. I’m really truly honored.”
Monaco Elementary School - Kelly Leitner, Kindergarten Teacher
“This is an unexpected and unbelievable honor that I feel is owed to our whole team and the whole campus here at Monaco.”
West Elementary School - Melissa McDowell, Fifth Grade Teacher
“Well, I think it’s a super, big honor. I’m definitely not in it for the accolades, but I really appreciate hearing from others on what their opinions are and it’s nice to be recognized.”
Congratulations to all Aubrey ISD 2025-2026 Teachers of the Year!
