The Texas Education Agency (TEA), has awarded Aubrey Independent School District an “A” for financial accountability measured by the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST).
This preliminary rating of “Superior Achievement” scoring 92 out of 100 points for 2025-2026, based on 2024-2025 data, indicates that Aubrey ISD’s stewardship of financial resources is highly ranked in accountability, transparency and efficient use that supports student achievement.
“We take a lot of fiscal responsibility and pride in what we do in spending our money wisely for our taxpayers and our constituents,” Aubrey ISD Superintendent Dr. Shannon Saylor said. “We’ve had a stable financial rating for years and it’s a tribute to our business office and the work that they do to ensure that we’re spending the money the correct way and doing what we need to do to meet the needs of our students and families.”
Aubrey ISD Chief Financial Officer Dr. Brian Walton emphasizes the accomplishment of achieving an “A” rating with an increase in the number of students and families served.
“This achievement is especially significant given the district’s tremendous growth, during which student enrollment has more than doubled while the district’s budget has kept pace with that growth,” Dr. Walton said. “The district’s score also reflects its significant investment in facilities and infrastructure needed to support this growth. While the FIRST rating considers future debt in relation to assessed property value, these investments ensure Aubrey ISD is prepared to serve its growing student population.”
