Seniors on the move! The Chaparral Legacy Cooperative for community members 60+ toured Aubrey Middle School yesterday. They visited fine arts classes seeing theatre, band and choir students in action, and also visited the outdoor education class where students were making mac and cheese in Dutch ovens outside. Before the tour began, they heard from Aubrey Middle School Principal Dr. Heather Baker who introduced her leadership team. They also perused old Aubrey ISD yearbooks which brought joy and laughter as they saw familiar faces. To become a part of the Chaparral Legacy Cooperative, please reach out to Aubrey ISD Deputy Superintendent Terrie McNabb at tmcnabb@aubreyisd.net

West Elementary School was formally dedicated during an intimate ceremony with Aubrey ISD leaders and descendants of school namesakes, Pete and Myra West, on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024. The event was emceed by West Elementary School Principal Jennie Petrasic and featured words and memories of Pete and Myra West from their children: Carson West, Teresa West Mancuso, Kathleen West Thompson, and by video, Edward West who lives in England. Aubrey ISD Superintendent Dr. Shannon Saylor and Board of Trustees President Jim Milacek delivered greetings. Dr. Saylor also welcomed several dignitaries and city leaders who were present from all areas served by Aubrey ISD, which includes Aubrey, Cross Roads, Krugerville and Providence Village. The gift of a United States flag and certificate from Congressman Michael C. Burgess was also presented during the festivities. A large banner on display featuring photos of Pete and Myra West was available for attendees to sign at the conclusion of the event. Immediately following the program, the West family was treated to a private reception and tour of West Elementary School.
