The Aubrey ISD Gifted and Talented (GT) Showcase took place March 31, 2026, at Monaco Elementary School.




Last night, the Lady Chaps’ soccer season came to an end in the regional final against Sunnyvale. After leading for most of the match, LCS conceded a goal in the final minute of regulation to fall 3-2.
Senior Brynnlee Bohannon opened the scoring in the first half off an assist from junior Landry Gannon. In the second half, freshman Blair Bohannon delivered a corner kick that sophomore Daniella Dominic-Etuk converted for the Lady Chaps’ second goal.
The team overcame tremendous adversity this season and achieved remarkable feats. We are proud of the way they performed and represented the program throughout the year.

Last Week in Baseball and Softball
Aubrey Varsity Baseball traveled to Panther Creek on Tuesday and dropped a close contest, 5–4. Jimmy Hay pitched 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out two. Jax Dunkin recorded the Chaps’ only extra-base hit with a double, and four different players drove in runs.
On Friday, Aubrey fell to Panther Creek, 9–2. Diego Tagliaferro led the offense with a home run and two hits, while Jimmy Hay added a triple and scored a run.
The Chaps will continue District 10-4A play on Tuesday, March 31, when they host Krum at 7 p.m. Aubrey’s overall record stands at 11-10-1 and 2-5 in district play.

The Lady Chaps fell to 1-2 in district play with a 6–0 loss to Panther Creek. Aubrey managed just four hits. Alivia Stewart had a solid outing but was charged with the loss.

Monday, the Lady Chaps Soccer (LCS) team won its third consecutive area championship with an 8-0 victory over Duncanville Village Tech.
The scoring opened when So. Kali Madden scored off an assist from So. Grace Taylor. Ten minutes later, Fr. Payton Canterbury served a cross to So. Daniella Dominic-Etuk, who headed the ball into the net. Less than a minute later, Jr. Landry Gannon scored the first of her three goals, assisted by Fr. Payton Canterbury. Her second goal came from the penalty spot, and her third was assisted by Kali Madden.
LCS led 5-0 at halftime and continued scoring early in the second half. Four minutes in, Kali Madden scored her second goal and the team’s second penalty kick. Shortly after, Landry Gannon found Jr. Averie Santos at the back post for the seventh goal. Fr. Payton Canterbury added the eighth and final goal, assisted by Kali Madden.
The LCS will return to action Friday, March 27, against Henderson at 6 p.m. The location is still being confirmed.

The Aubrey Lady Chaps competed Thursday, March 20, in Edinburg at the state powerlifting meet. The team had one of its best state meets in several years. All nine girls who competed completed the meet, marking the first time every lifter has finished since the current head coach took over. The Lady Chaps finished 13th out of 30 teams and had two medalists.
In the 97-pound weight class, Matianna Walter earned a second-place medal with a total of 670 pounds. She recorded a 255-pound squat, 160-pound bench press and a 255-pound deadlift. Zoe Fikes finished sixth with a total of 590 pounds.
In the 114-pound weight class, Asia’h Dallas finished ninth with a total of 745 pounds. Presley Howard placed 10th with a total of 710 pounds.
In the 123-pound weight class, Bianca Bertolani finished seventh with a total of 790 pounds.
In the 148-pound weight class, Alaya Harnett finished 14th with a total of 755 pounds.
In the 181-pound weight class, Ella Burton finished seventh with a total of 910 pounds.
In the 220-pound weight class, Mariah Saldivar finished 11th with a total of 760 pounds.
In the 242-plus weight class, Haylee Moon earned a fourth-place medal with a total of 1,130 pounds. She recorded a 435-pound squat, 325-pound bench press and a 370-pound deadlift. Moon also broke the state record twice in the bench press, first with a 315-pound lift and again with 325 pounds.
I was very proud of how our girls competed at the meet,” the coach said. “The girls have worked extremely hard all year, so it was great that we had no one bomb out of the meet.”

The Lady Chaps took on Caddo Mills in a bi-district matchup for the third consecutive year and, for the third time, came away victorious to claim their third bi-district championship.
Despite several injuries that led to a younger lineup, every player stepped up to the challenge. After a scoreless first half, junior captain Landry Gannon picked up the ball in her own half, beat multiple defenders and scored the opening goal.
The Lady Chaps elevated their play from there, with sophomores Kali Madden and Danielle Dominic-Etuk combining for two more goals.
The Lady Chaps will face Village Tech at 6 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Tommy Standridge Stadium, 1330 Valwood Parkway in Carrollton.

The Aubrey Education Foundation 25th Annual Silver Soirée Gala took place at the University of North Texas Gateway Center in Denton on March 21, 2026. The event featured food, fun and fundraising via live and silent auctions. During the gala, Aubrey ISD legends Terrie McNabb and Ron Bullock were inducted into the Chaparral Elite.

National Theatre in Our Schools Month

Aubrey ISD art teachers Shelby Kennedy and Sheena LeMay-Nelssen, along with OMS student teacher Emily Chilton, attended the National Art Education Association Conference in Chicago from March 5-7.
The group collaborated with fellow art educators and artists and returned with new ideas to implement in the classroom.

It is with heavy hearts that we share news of the death of McNabb Middle School paraprofessional David Denton. Denton joined Aubrey ISD in November 2025. He died in a golf cart accident this past weekend.
