Summer Learning: Fire Safety
This week, the Aubrey Fire Department dropped by our elementary summer school to talk to the kids about fire safety—just in time for the Fourth of July!
Here are five fire safety tips from the United States Fire Administration (USFA) to keep everyone safe this summer:
1. Build Campfires Safely: Make sure campfires are at least 25 feet away from tents, bushes, and anything that could catch fire.
2. Supervise Kids Around Fires: Always keep an eye on kids when there’s a fire pit. They’re curious and might get too close.
3. Store Matches and Lighters Safely: Keep matches and lighters out of kids’ sight and reach. They can be very tempting.
4. Properly Extinguish Fires: Before heading to bed or leaving the backyard, make sure all fires are completely out.
5. Leave Fireworks to the Pros: The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to watch a professional display.

Excitement Builds as West Family Visits New Elementary School
Carson West, alongside his sister Teresa West Mancuso and brother-in-law Gus Mancuso, visited the construction site of the soon-to-open West Elementary School. Named in honor of their parents, Pete and Myra West, the campus is set to open its doors in Fall 2024.
The Aubrey Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees officially approved the naming of Elementary School #4 as Pete and Myra West Elementary School at their March meeting. The decision celebrates the Wests' long-standing dedication to education within the Aubrey ISD community, where both served as educators for many years.

Two Chaparrals Named Super Elite by the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA)
Tyler Brown and Ryan McMeen have been named to the Boys Track & Field Super Elite Team for Class AAAA. Additionally, Tyler Brown has been recognized as the team MVP.
The THSCA Super Elite Teams are composed of high school players nominated by current professional members, who meet the THSCA award criteria recognizing exemplary athletic achievements in Texas.

Cross Country practice starts a week from today! The first day is Monday, June 17, from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. at the AMS track. These workouts are for 7th-12th graders. Practice will run Monday through Thursday throughout the summer.

THSCA and Texas Farm Bureau Insurance recognize Texas high school coaches for their accomplishments both on and off the track. As part of this recognition, Aubrey High School track and field Coach Don Spaulding was named THSCA Regional Head 4A Boys Track & Field Coach of the Year! Aubrey Baseball is proud to announce that Landon Martino, a student-athlete on the 2024 Aubrey Baseball Team, has been named to the THSCA Academic All-State Team. Landon not only performed on the field, but also excelled in the classroom. We are incredibly proud of him and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.
The THSCA Academic All-State Teams recognize senior athletes who have excelled in their GPA, class rank, and ACT/SAT scores among their peers throughout the state.

Aubrey ISD football summer camp will be held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Times will remain the same.
Camp will be held at Chaparral Stadium. In the event of inclement weather, camp will be moved to the high school auxiliary gym.
We appreciate your patience and flexibility.
Due to inclement weather and unsafe road conditions, we have made the decision to not hold our football camp today. Safety of our students and families is first priority. Starting May 28, our offices will be open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a lunch closure from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. All offices will be closed on Fridays.
