Aubrey played one of its strongest opening halves of the season but struggled in the third quarter with turnovers and foul trouble. Despite battling through adversity, the Lady Chaps were unable to get shots to fall late in the game.
While the loss stings, the team gained valuable experience and looks to bounce back next week.

Aubrey opened district play with a 63-49 road win at Sanger.
The game was back and forth in the first quarter, with Aubrey trailing 13-11 after struggling on the boards against Sanger’s height. The Chaparrals regrouped, boxed out effectively and adjusted to Sanger’s changing defenses to take a four-point lead into halftime.
Sanger mounted a one-man run in the third quarter, but Aubrey weathered the surge and continued to build its lead. In the fourth quarter, the Chaparrals played strong defense, secured rebounds, hit timely 3-pointers and free throws, and executed offensively to seal the win.
Aubrey will continue focusing on starting games with greater intensity, rebounding and help defense. The next district game will be Tuesday at Celina.
Aubrey scorers: Jarvis Hollis 4, Marquez Lucas Jr. 14, Desmond King Jr. 14, Luke Hellman 16, Blake Wheeler 2, Antwon Jones 13.
Friday, Jan. 2, marked a historic day for the Aubrey boys soccer program, highlighted by two program firsts.
The afternoon opened with a JV1 scrimmage against JV2. JV1 earned a 6-2 win, though the match was more competitive than the final score indicated.
The featured match of the day saw the varsity Chaparrals face Aubrey alumni in a thrilling contest. The 2026 Chaparrals prevailed with a 4-3 victory over their predecessors.
Goals for Aubrey were scored by Allen Palencia off a corner kick from Brandon Correa, Bryan Mbateng, Andruw Gomez and Diego Pineda.
The alumni goals came from Jaden Carter, who converted a penalty kick, and John Serrano, who scored twice. The alumni side proved formidable, showing grit, cohesion and competitiveness throughout the match.
It was a memorable day for the program, one that will not soon be forgotten. Best wishes to the Aubrey alumni in 2026 — and they are always welcome back.
Aubrey’s next match will be against Frisco Emerson at the Denison Tournament this coming week.

Aubrey ISD welcomes back our teachers tomorrow, January 5.
