Aubrey Recap: Nov. 25
Coach Smith
We had another tough game for our young team against a very athletic 5A team in Anna. I thought our guys got better throughout the game. We are still learning to handle tough defensive pressure. I still believe playing these big schools is going to help us develop and make us a better team and better prepared for our district.
Aubrey Scores: Aubrey Scores: Marquez Lucas Jr - 25, Jarvis Hollis - 4, Liam Conley - 3, Desmond King - 7, Luke Hellman - 7, Connor Murphy - 2, Will Story - 7, Blake Wheeler - 2, and Antwon Jones - 2.
Coach Smith
Overall record - 0-4

Aubrey Basketball Recaps: Nov. 24
Gentlemen Chaps
Coach Smith
We played our first home game against a very good shooting 5A school in Frisco Centennial, losing 96-52. These larger schools continue to expose our weaknesses defensively. The good thing about playing good competition like this early is it helps us see the major areas we need to work on. I am very proud of how hard our team continues to play. We just need to continue to improve the little things like boxing out, rebounding, rotating on defense and making better decisions offensively. We get another opp to play a big 5A school against Anna. We want to make progress to be a better team by the time we start district play.
Aubrey Scores: Aubrey Scores: Marquez Lucas Jr - 19, Jarvis Hollis - 1, Liam Conley - 3, Desmond King - 4, Luke Hellman - 12, Carsten Stephenson - 3, Connor Murphy - 4, Will Story - 7, Blake Wheeler - 4, and Antwon Jones - 4.
Varsity Overall record - 0-3
Lady Chaps
Coach Black
Aubrey vs Lebanon Trail
Top Scorers: Payton Canterbury 7, Abby Lynch-Buxton 7, Addalyn Cagle 6, Aniyah Davis 5
The Lady Chaps took on Lebanon Trail today for their last game before the
Thanksgiving break. Despite having tired legs from the 5 game tournament, the Lady Chaps were able to display a lot of mental toughness and do what needed to be done in the 4th quarter to finally pull ahead and away after a rough 3rd quarter. Our defense definitely stepped up today when our offense was struggling and created scoring opportunities for us. I am very proud of the discipline, toughness and grit the girls showed today. We will be back in action after the break on Tuesday, December 2nd at home vs Denton High.
Lady Chaps move to 4-5 on the season.

Over 100 people gathered for the dedication ceremony of Evalois Owens Middle School on Nov. 20, 2025. The event featured greetings from Aubrey ISD administrators, student performances by the Owens Middle School choir and band, a congressional flag and certificate presentation, and most notably, words from the school’s namesake, Evalois Owens. A reception followed in the library. Thanks to all who showed up to celebrate our iconic community hero of whom the second middle school in the district is named.

Aubrey Shows Grit in Season-Opening Against Krum
Aubrey opened its season with a competitive showing Friday, falling 93–83 to a Krum squad ranked in the top 10 in the state.
Head coach Smith said he was proud of the team’s toughness and resilience in a game that quickly turned into an “old-fashioned shootout.” Krum knocked down 16 threes, many from deep range, but Aubrey stayed within striking distance throughout.
“It was a good first game to start this new season,” Smith said. “Most of our players were experiencing their first varsity game. I am very pleased with how our guys responded to adversity. That kind of grit could serve us well throughout the season. This is a fun group to coach and a fun group to watch for our fans.”
Marquez Lucas Jr. led Aubrey with 27 points, followed by Antwon Jones with 22. Desmond King added 12, Luke Hellman 6, and Carston Stephenson, Will Story and Connor Murphy each contributed 4. Jarvis Hollis and Blake Wheeler scored 2 apiece.
Aubrey moves to 0–1 on the season.

Aubrey HS FCCLA and fashion design classes are partnering with Box Car Quilts, an Aubrey business, to provide children’s pillowcases to Ryan’s Case for Smiles. The national organization supports families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer and has donated 3 million pillowcases. We are helping them reach 4 million.
We are asking for donations of children’s fabric to help us meet our goal of 100 pillowcases. Think whimsical, colorful, princess, dinosaurs, action figures or any other patterns children would love. Fabric can be purchased at Walmart, Hobby Lobby or our local quilt store.
We will accept donations through Dec. 3. One yard of fabric makes two pillowcases. Please help us support Ryan’s Case for Smiles.

A select group of Aubrey High School students got to participate in the Nancy Lieberman Charities Day at the Office Mentorship Program at the accounting firm of CohnReznick in Frisco on Nov. 13, 2025. Students took a tour of the CohnReznick work environment and learned lessons on professionalism, networking and decision-making from NBA Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman and CohnReznick Texas Office Managing Partner Mike Barber. Near the end of the experience, students were gifted backpacks, customized business cards and iPads. Along for the field trip were Aubrey ISD Superintendent Dr. Shannon Saylor, Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Dr. Jonathan Lee and Director of Communications Eva D. Coleman. We're grateful to Nancy Lieberman for her support of Aubrey ISD students!
