National Theatre in Our Schools Month

Aubrey ISD art teachers Shelby Kennedy and Sheena LeMay-Nelssen, along with OMS student teacher Emily Chilton, attended the National Art Education Association Conference in Chicago from March 5-7.
The group collaborated with fellow art educators and artists and returned with new ideas to implement in the classroom.

It is with heavy hearts that we share news of the death of McNabb Middle School paraprofessional David Denton. Denton joined Aubrey ISD in November 2025. He died in a golf cart accident this past weekend.
Please keep the Denton family and our school community in your prayers.

Lady Chap Soccer will take on Caddo Mills in the first round of the bi-district playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Farmersville High School.

The Aubrey Lady Chaps clinched a playoff spot with a 7-0 win over Sanger. Junior Landry Gannon, a Texas commit, set two single-season records with 54 goals and 31 assists.

On March 13, the Lady Chaps faced Prosper Richland in their final district match. The teams battled to a 0-0 tie before Aubrey fell 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout.
Landry Gannon, Kali Madden and Daniella Dominic-Etuk converted penalty kicks for Aubrey. Goalkeeper Gabby Dominic-Etuk saved one penalty.
Aubrey finished third in district and earned the top seed in Division II of the Class 4A playoffs. The Lady Chaps will face Caddo Mills in the bi-district round at 7 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Farmersville High School.

Boys Soccer
Aubrey tied district rival Sanger 1-1. Freshman Samuel Padilla scored the Chaparrals’ lone goal early in the match. Sanger later tied the game on a penalty kick.
The match went to penalty kicks, where Aubrey fell 4-3. Peyton Campbell, Osvaldo Osorio and Samuel Padilla converted their attempts.
Aubrey closed the season against Prosper Richland, falling 4-1. Ricardo Colabrarodino scored on a penalty kick for the Chaparrals. Aubrey showed improvement from its earlier 4-0 loss to Richland and returns most of its roster for next season.

Aubrey defeated Prosper Richland 2-0 in a District 10-4A matchup. Jimmy Hay earned the win, throwing a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts.

Aubrey split a pair of games March 9. The Lady Chaps fell to Sanger 17-1 in the opener. Sophia Jones recorded Aubrey’s only hit and RBI. Alivia Stewart took the loss in the circle.
In the second game, Aubrey defeated Bonham 9-2. Stewart earned the win, pitching a complete game with five strikeouts.
Sophia Jones led the offense with two home runs and four RBIs. Abby Lynch-Buxton added a home run and two RBIs.

The Aubrey Lady Chaps picked up their fifth straight win with an 11-1 victory over Gainesville on March 3 in five innings.
Lily Paul earned the win, allowing one hit in three shutout innings. Abby Lynch-Buxton led the offense, going 4-for-4 with a double, two triples and a walk-off solo home run.

Aubrey Varsity Baseball opened District 10-4A play with a 3-2 loss at Krum on March 3.
Jimmy Hay was outstanding on the mound for the Chaps, throwing 6.2 innings, allowing eight hits and three runs while striking out 10. Sebastian Marin recorded two singles. Dane Buck and Jax Dunkin each collected an RBI.
The Chaps co-hosted the Aubrey/Ponder Varsity Tournament on Thursday and Friday, finishing with three wins and one loss. Aubrey defeated Dallas Kimball 6-5 on Thursday before falling to Kennedale 4-2. On Friday, the Chaps defeated Fort Worth Northside 9-1 and Coram Deo 9-1.
Sebastian Marin and Luke Hellman led Aubrey with five hits each during the tournament. Hellman also led the team with two doubles, two triples and seven RBIs. Jackson Polen, Will Storey and Jax Dunkin earned wins on the mound.
Aubrey continues District 10-4A play Tuesday, March 10, hosting Prosper Richland at 7 p.m.

The Aubrey varsity boys and girls golf teams competed in the Argyle Invitational on March 6 at Oakmont Country Club. The event provided an opportunity to compete against a strong field and continue improving their play.
The teams will return to action March 18 at Bridlewood Country Club.

Aubrey Baseball 2025 All-State Member Recognition by Coach Henry
Before Friday’s game, we took a moment to honor one of the outstanding student-athletes in our baseball program with a plaque that will be displayed at the field. Last season, Diego demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership and performance on the field. As the anchor behind the plate, he led our team with toughness, intelligence and a relentless work ethic every single day.
His outstanding season earned him one of the highest honors a high school baseball player can receive — a THSBCA first-team all-state selection.
Diego Tagliaferro put together an incredible season at the plate. He finished the year with a .412 batting average and a .545 on-base percentage, collecting 40 hits, including eight doubles, one triple and one home run. He also drove in 15 RBIs and scored 20 runs, consistently providing a spark for our offense while leading our defense from behind the plate.
This recognition is a testament not only to his talent, but also to the countless hours of preparation, his commitment to his teammates and the pride he takes in representing our program and community.
Please join us in congratulating Diego Tagliaferro, first-team all-state catcher, for an incredible 2025 season and this well-deserved honor.
Congratulations, Diego, and thank you for representing our program with excellence.

What is the Chaparral Course Connection Program?
The Chaparral Course Connection is Aubrey ISD’s Virtual and Hybrid Program, designed to provide flexible learning options while maintaining the academic expectations of Aubrey High School. The program is open to Aubrey ISD students in grades 9–12 on track in their graduation plan. Students interested in the program who reside outside of Aubrey ISD must complete the inter-district registration process prior to virtual enrollment.

The Aubrey Lady Chap powerlifting team competed at the regional meet last Friday in Decatur. The Lady Chaps had another strong showing, with multiple athletes earning medals in their respective weight classes. Eight lifters qualified for the state powerlifting meet.
In the 97-pound weight class, Matiana Walter won first place with a total of 680 pounds. Zoe Fikes placed third with a total of 600 pounds. Both advanced to the state meet.
In the 105-pound weight class, Cloe Higgs placed third with a total of 515 pounds.
In the 114-pound weight class, Asia’h Dallas finished fourth. Presley Howard placed sixth with a total of 710 pounds, and Samantha Rebhan finished ninth with a total of 590 pounds. Asia’h and Presley qualified for the state meet.
In the 123-pound weight class, Bianca Bertolani placed third with a total of 765 pounds. Alyssa Waddell finished eighth with a total of 535 pounds, and Ziva McGee placed 10th with a total of 495 pounds. Bianca hit the automatic qualifying total to advance to state.
In the 132-pound weight class, Aislynn Chavez placed fifth with a total of 650 pounds. Rowyn Millington finished seventh with a total of 610 pounds, Skyla Morgan placed ninth with a total of 580 pounds, and Stella Lawler finished 10th with a total of 575 pounds.
In the 148-pound weight class, Alaya Harnett earned second place with a total of 770 pounds. Madeline Seward finished sixth with a total of 680 pounds, Taylor Tepfer placed seventh with a total of 650 pounds, Presley Stegall finished eighth with a total of 585 pounds, and Kensie Bonnell placed 12th with a total of 525 pounds. Alaya advanced to the state meet with her second-place finish.
In the 165-pound weight class, Emma Cano placed fourth with a total of 785 pounds. Brandi Tovar finished sixth with a total of 745 pounds.
In the 181-pound weight class, Ella Burton earned second place with a total of 870 pounds. Kaimee Egesa finished seventh with a total of 610 pounds. Ella advanced to the state meet.
In the 198-pound weight class, Hadley Booth finished sixth with a total of 640 pounds.
In the 220-pound weight class, Mariah Saldiver placed third with a total of 750 pounds. Isabella Stricland finished fourth with a total of 590 pounds, and Samantha Barrientos placed fifth with a total of 555 pounds.
In the 242-pound weight class, Jaida McCoy placed fourth with a total of 850 pounds. Isabella Hunt finished fifth with a total of 750 pounds, and Logan Smith placed seventh with a total of 560 pounds.
In the 242-plus weight class, Haylee Moon won first place with a total of 1,165 pounds. She broke the regional bench press record three times during the meet. Her lift of 335 pounds is the new regional record. Haylee qualified for the state meet.
The Lady Chaps finished third overall as a team in a highly competitive regional field.
State qualifiers will compete at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg.
