Coach Gathright Reports: Dec. 19 The Aubrey Lady Chaps fell to 9-9 on the year with a 32-30 loss to Sanger. Score by quarters for Aubrey were 10, 6, 9, 5. Score by quarters for Sanger were 5, 12, 6, 9. Scorers for Aubrey were Brooklyn Weier with 12 points, Shelby Harrington with 9, Addy Cagle with 7, and Abby Buxton with 2. I was really proud of the effort our girls played with tonight despite multiple injuries and sickness. I thought we did a good job in our zone defense tonight to give ourselves a chance to win. We missed a couple of opportunities in the fourth quarter to win as well.

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 19 Aubrey 61 Sanger47 I was glad to see our team come out with lots of energy. The first quarter I thought we played great team defense. It was a good way to finish before the break. After Christmas we have a really tough tournament at Allen, then we will be getting ready for our district opponents. Aubrey had a strong performance with multiple scorers. Tyler Hightower contributed 4 points, Branden West scored 10 points, Brock Temple added 2 points, Gavin Barnes scored 8 points, Jaedon Bogar led with 16 points, Emory Jones contributed 8 points, Tyler Brown scored 2 points, Elijah Herron added 9 points, and Avry Smith scored 2 points.

No final exam may be given earlier than the scheduled time. Denton ATC students need to make arrangements with teachers to make up exams or have an alternate option if there is a conflict. All ATC students should attend final exam times as scheduled. Make-up exams are on Jan. 8, 2024. Schedule a time with your teacher if necessary.

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 16 We struggled in the first half of today's game but the guys turned it around in the second half with much better defensive energy. We executed well in the 4th quarter to come away with the win. It was a great team effort with five guys scoring in double figures. Aubrey scorers were Tyler Hightower with 10 points, Branden West with 12 points, Brock Temple with 1 point, Gavin Barnes with 10 points, Jaedon Bogar with 2 points, Emory Jones with 14 points, and Elijah Herron with 10 points.

The Aubrey Middle School (AMS) One Act Play won first place and received numerous acting awards. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew for their outstanding achievements!

Coach Smith Reports: Dec.15 Aubrey 47 City View 59 This one was our first bad loss. We did not play with any energy. Shots did not fall. It was just not a good game for us. I feel like in all the other games we have competed well, whether win or lose we played with energy and desire, but today we did not do that. We will get the ship right. Aubrey had multiple scorers in their game. Tyler Hightower scored 2 points, Branden West scored 11 points, Brock Temple scored 2 points, Gavin Barnes scored 6 points, Jaedon Bogar scored 10 points, Emory Jones scored 6 points, and Elijah Herron also scored 10 points.

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 15 Played the 2nd game of the day with a lot more energy which led to a strong first quarter. Really proud of how the guys stuck together through a very tough losing streak. We know that adversity causes some men to break and others to break records. We are challenging these young men to use this adversity to help us be the best team we can be. It was good to see them finish the day with a successful win. Aubrey Luke Applin had a total of 6 points. Tyler Hightower scored 10 points, while Branden West contributed 8 points. Gavin Barnes scored 3 points, Jaedon Bogar had 7 points, and Emory Jones led the team with 12 points. Elijah Herron scored 8 points, and Avry Smith contributed 4 points.

The Brockett Elementary Choir recently paid a visit to Early Bird Learning Center to spread holiday cheer.

Coach Smith Reports: Dec.14 Aubrey 62 Krum 67 We got off to a strong start. The game became a game of runs. Eventually, their quickness and their shooting ability hurt us. I am really proud of how the boys fought back. Every time they made a run to extend the lead, we would make a run to get it back. A very positive sign was that our bench play was better, and if we can continue to gel, we can be very strong by district play. In the game, Aubrey had multiple scorers. Tyler Hightower scored 7 points, Branden West scored 4 points, Brock Temple scored 6 points, Gavin Barnes scored 2 points, Jaedon Bogar scored 7 points, Emory Jones scored 15 points, and Elijah Herron scored 21 points.

Score by quarters for Krum were 12, 16, 9, 5. Scorers for Aubrey were Brooklyn Weier with 13 points, Shelby Harrington with 10, Kynadi Hall with 5, and Tatum Hoover with 2. The Lady Chaps return to action next Tuesday night at home against Sanger. The varsity girls play at 6 pm and the JV girls play at 7:30 pm.

Congratulations to Maria Maldonado who will continue her studies and play soccer at Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma!

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 12 Aubrey 70 Melissa 77 This was another hard fought game against a tough 5A School. I’m very proud of how hard we played. We pushed the ball well on offense and after halftime we played much better defense. Playing teams like this will help us in our District. Brockett Elementary recently organized a family service project to kick off the giving season. During the event, families came together to pack blessing bags filled with personal care items. To add a personal touch, holiday cards were enclosed in each bag. The generosity of the families resulted in over 200 bags being donated to Our Daily Bread.

Over the weekend, Fuller Elementary hosted a festive event to mark the start of the holiday season. The highlight of the event was breakfast with Santa, which brought families together for a fun-filled morning. We would like to express our gratitude to our partners at Home Depot for their assistance creating beautiful ornaments. #ChapFamily

Scorers for Aubrey were Addy Cagle with 9 points, Brooklyn Weier with 5, Shelby Harrington with 4, Kynadi Hall with 3, and Abby Buxton with 2. I was very proud of the girls for the fight they had in them for this game. They competed extremely hard against a very good Ponder team. We just missed some open shots and free throws down the stretch that kept us from getting the win. The girls did a great job of defending a good shooting team. Dec. 9 The Aubrey Lady Chaps went 1-1 on the last day of the Springtown tournament with a 21-20 loss to Mineral Wells and a 56-18 win over Springtown. In the Mineral Wells game, the score by quarters for Aubrey were 4, 6, 7, 3. Score by quarters for Mineral Wells were 3, 5, 8, 5. Scorers for Aubrey were Brooklyn Weier with 9 points, Addy Cagle with 5, Kynadi Hall with 4, and Shelby Harrington with 2. In the Springtown game, the score by quarters for Aubrey were 9, 22, 11, 14. Score by quarters for Springtown were 4, 3, 3, 8. Scorers for Aubrey were Kynadi Hall with 18 points, Addy Cagle with 12, Brooklyn Weier with 8, Shelby Harrington with 6, and LuLu King, Molly Ward, and Abby Buxton with 3 points each. The Lady Chaps return to action on Tuesday at home against Krum.

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 8 Aubrey 55 Walnut Grove 77 We came out struggling offensively and had a hard time matching their intensity at the beginning of the game. We are going to need to play much better team defense against teams like this in order to slow them down. I believe we will grow from this and it will be a game that makes us better for our upcoming district play. Coach Dumond Reports: Tonight was the first night of opening scrimmages for the high school soccer season! The Aubrey Varsity Boys played a grueling defensive match leading to a 0-0 halftime score while dominating possession in the first half. During the second half, both teams had several counterattack opportunities, but late in the game Carrollton Ranchview scored to take the 1-0 lead. Aubrey battled out and came up just short as this would be the final score. Please come support them next week as they take on Sanger on Friday at Sanger High School.
