Coach Smith Reports: This will be a learning game for us. The effort was there the entire time. We just did not execute well at crucial moments. We will learn from this and be better. Last year we did not compete well against them but this year was a game we should have won. I think we will bounce back and have a strong game tomorrow vs a very good Ponder team. Coach Gathright Reports: The Aubrey Lady Chaps improved to 2-3 on the year with a 41-36 win over Denton HS. Score by quarters for Aubrey were 9, 10, 8, 14. Score by quarters for Denton were 5, 8, 7, 16. Scorers for Aubrey were Brooklyn Weier with 20 points, Kynadi Hall with 9, Molly Ward and Addy Cagle with 4 points each, Shelby Harrington with 2, and LuLu King and Landry Gannon with 1 point each. We did a better job defensively than what we played this weekend, but I think we will even be better as the season moves on. We did a good job of finding a way to keep scoring when they made some runs at us. The Lady Chaps return to action tomorrow at home against Whitesboro.

The Aubrey High School Debate team had a remarkable performance at the recent Regional Meet. This year, AHS will be sending two students to the State UIL Congressional Debate Meet, marking the first time since 2014. Out of all the competitors, only the top three advanced to the state level, and Aubrey secured both the first and second place positions. Brody Burton achieved the impressive feat of becoming the second student in AHS history to be a back-to-back Regional Champion. Additionally, Margaret Quade made history as the first freshman from Aubrey High School to advance to state in Congressional Debate, earning the second place medal. The Aubrey High School Debate team is undoubtedly deserving of praise.

I am really proud of how the kids came out and played this game today. Lots of energy but we got in foul trouble in the first half and had to adjust a little on defense. We came out in the 2nd half and executed well defensively which led to good scoring opportunities. We have a really tough game coming up on Monday at Denton High. Our Child Nutrition team, led by Adi Caballero, recently prepared a delicious Thanksgiving meal for our staff and students. Did you know? Our child nutrition partner, Aramark, provides us with monthly limited time offers, allowing our students to try new menu items. This week, our students had the opportunity to taste a "Spicy Tzatziki Beef Gyro" at the HS and Middle School. The gyro consisted of whole grain flatbread, seasoned beef and potatoes, tomato cucumber salad, spicy tzatziki sauce, and feta cheese. Pictured: This week's Thanksgiving meal.

"The Aubrey Lady Chaps drop to 0-1 on the year with a 31-28 loss to Pottsboro. Score by quarters for Aubrey were 3, 9, 9, 7. Score by quarter for Pottsboro were 6, 6, 11, 8. Scorers for Aubrey were Shelby Harrington and Addy Cagle with 7 points each, Kynadi Hall with 6, Landry Gannon with 4, Brooklyn Weier with 3, and Abby Buxton with 1 point. Despite losing the game, I was very impressed with our effort after only 3 days of practice with everyone on the team. I thought we played very well defensively, but just struggled at times offensively. I was very pleased with the execution of our offenses, but we just need to do a better job of finishing around the basket. The Lady Chaps return to action today with games in Denison. The Lady Chaps will take on Denison at 11 a.m. and Northwest HS at 3 p.m." ~ Coach Gathright
