On Saturday, Feb. 8, the Aubrey boys soccer team faced Panther Creek in its final game of the first round of district play. The match was a back-and-forth battle, with much of the action in the midfield. Aubrey played against a strong south wind in the first half but still took a 1-0 lead after Aiden Pearson delivered a free kick to Connor Gourd, who found the net.
In the second half, the wind and momentum shifted. Aubrey, now playing against a strong northern wind, adjusted to a more defensive strategy but conceded three goals off corner kicks, resulting in a 3-1 loss.
Aubrey will face Sanger next Tuesday on its bye day before traveling to Celina next Friday.
