Aubrey High School Theatre Advances to Bi-District Competition On March 7, Aubrey High School Theatre won first place at the district One-Act Play contest, earning a spot in the Bi-District competition with A Light in the Darkest by Michael K. Ward. This marks the first time AHS has advanced as a 4A school and the first advancement since 2013, when the team competed in 3A. McNabb Middle School (MMS) Jr. Beta Club Excels at State Convention GRAPEVINE, Texas – The McNabb Middle School Junior Beta Club showcased its talent and dedication at the State Convention on Feb. 27-28, earning top honors in multiple events. The club’s hard work paid off, qualifying for the National Convention in June in 25 events. “We are so proud of all our competitors for their accomplishments and dedication,” said the MMS Jr. Beta Club sponsors. Pre-registration for students entering pre-kindergarten for the 2025-26 school year will start on April 8, 2025. Aubrey ISD’s public pre-K program for eligible 4-year-olds is housed at Fuller and West Elementary schools. Pre-K Qualification & Enrollment events are scheduled for April 8, 21 and June 10, 2025. Lady Chaps Dominate Caddo Mills, Claim Second Straight Bi-District Title The Lady Chaps soccer team became bi-district champions for the second consecutive year with a dominant 7-1 victory over Caddo Mills. In a rematch of last year’s first-round playoff game, Aubrey faced a physical and athletic Caddo Mills squad. The first 10 minutes saw both teams create scoring chances, but the Lady Chaps struck first. On a counterattack, senior Macy Childers found freshman Daniella Dominic-Etuk wide open in the middle of the 18-yard box for the opening goal. Just four minutes later, junior Brynnlee Bohannon delivered a brilliant pass behind the defense to Childers, who finished with composure to put Aubrey up 2-0. Despite Caddo Mills’ pressure, the Lady Chaps’ young back line—freshmen Eva Jones and Lauralai Baker, along with sophomores Lilly Stewart and Jordin Gomez—held strong to maintain the two-goal lead at halftime. Expecting an energized second half from Caddo Mills, the Lady Chaps responded with an offensive explosion, scoring three goals in the first seven minutes after the break. Childers and Dominic-Etuk connected again for the first goal of the half. Two minutes later, Bohannon stole the ball in her own half, sprinted 60 yards, and was fouled from behind in the box before calmly converting the ensuing penalty kick. Three minutes after that, Bohannon assisted Dominic-Etuk’s third goal, securing her hat trick. Toward the end of the match, Childers delivered a perfect cross to senior Andrea Anez, who buried her first goal of the season with a left-footed finish. The scoring was capped off when the captains combined again, with Bohannon assisting Childers for the seventh goal. Although goalkeeper Lexis Jones conceded one goal, she delivered a standout performance, making 13 key saves, including a crucial penalty kick stop that helped maintain momentum in the second half. The Lady Chaps advance to the area round, where they will face LIFE Oak Cliff next week. Game details are still being finalized. Aubrey Shuts Out Decatur 3-0 on Senior Night Aubrey varsity baseball secured a non-district win on Senior Night, defeating Decatur 3-0 on Friday. Tyler Winten earned the win on the mound for the Chaps, pitching 6.2 innings while allowing just three hits, no runs, and striking out nine. Aubrey returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, March 22, for another non-district matchup at Denison. At the March board meeting this evening, West Elementary School Pledge Leaders were Madilyn Cantwell and Adrian Nazario. Recognition:    •   Aubrey High School Cheer was recognized for placing third at the UIL State competition in 4A-D1, marking the team’s first time competing in this division. The cheerleaders presented each board member with a medal, and Superintendent Dr. Shannon Saylor awarded each cheerleader a Chaparral Honor Badge.    •   Aubrey High School football seniors Tyler Brown, Toby Davis, Brayden Hamilton, and Brock Temple were honored for All-State recognition and multiple achievements.
