Lady Chaps Shut Out Panther Creek, Secure Second in District
The Lady Chaps took on playoff-bound Panther Creek in what felt like gale-force winds. Despite the conditions, Aubrey delivered a strong defensive performance in the first half. Junior goalkeeper Lexis Jones was a game-changer, making two pivotal saves—one coming off her line on a breakaway and another at full extension on a free kick to deny a certain goal. She finished the match with 12 saves and a clean sheet.
With limited offensive chances in the first half, junior captain Brynnlee Bohannon made the most of an opportunity, delivering a perfectly timed pass to senior captain Macy Childers, who split the defenders and finished with composure to put Aubrey up 1-0. Fifteen minutes later, freshman Daniella Dominic-Etuk doubled the lead with a top-tier side volley off a tap-down pass from Bohannon.
The 2-0 victory brings the Lady Chaps’ district record to 9-3, securing a second-place finish. The team will take the field again on March 17 at 5 p.m. at Chaparral Stadium for a warm-up match against Lindale as they prepare for the playoffs.
Game Stats:
GK Jr. Lexis Jones – 12 saves, 0 goals allowed
Sr. Macy Childers – 1 goal
Fr. Daniella Dominic-Etuk – 1 goal
Jr. Brynnlee Bohannon – 2 assists
